Largs Bay was built by the British Shipbuilding company Swan Hunter and came into service in 2006. She is classified as a Bay class Landing Ship and remained in service with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) until she was sold to the Royal Australian Navy in 2011 and renamed HMAS Choules (L100). This photograph of her was taken from the deck of the SS Shieldhall in August 2009 as Largs Bay was sailing into the Solent, having departed the Marchwood Military Port Southampton.
