Snav Sicilia
When I photographed her just after dawn in early August 2008 on her approach to Palermo, Sicily, I had no idea of her history. Built in Germany in 1974 she was originally named Norland and served in the North Sea owned firstly by North Sea Ferries and subsequently by P & O North Sea Ferries. She saw war service in the Falklands conflict. Sold to the Italian Ferry company SNAV in 2002 she was renamed SNAV Sicilia and served on the Naples- Palermo route until she was sold for scrapping in India in 2010. Obviously a distinguished vessel with a fine service record.
