SV Tenacious.
I always try to select what I hope is an interesting image from my collection for posting on the My Ship Images web site. My problem is that I forget many of the images that I have captured over the years and often have to rely on my log books and the search facilities that are built into Adobe Lightroom to select a likely image for uploading. One exception to this rule is a series of images of the the Sailing Vessel Tenacious that I captured in May 2007. What stayed in my mind and why I remembered these images over many others was the memory of some of the crew hanging over two of the lower yard arms, as Tenacious sailed up Southampton Water Southampton heading for her berth in the Port. I could only admire the crews sense of adventure and courage as I have never really been comfortable working at heights, particularly during my own time at sea in the 1960's. Tenacious is owned and operated by the Charity Jubilee Sailing Trust (JST) and its web site www.jst.org provides a wealth of information about the aims of the JST and the history of Tenacious itself. This image and others captured on the same date were taken from the Moat Wall of Calshot Castle.
