Images for upload to the My Ship Images web site are chosen by me at random against no particular criteria but can often raise questions that I cannot answer. This image of the 29968 Gross Ton French Registered Roll On/passenger (RO/PAX) Ferry Jean Nicoli is a case in point. Firstly I have no idea why a French ferry that is normally deployed in the Mediterranean should be berthed at Southampton and secondly although Internet sources state that she was named Jean Nicoli in 2009, this image of her was captured by me in March 2007. Jean Nicoli was built in Norway and came into service in 1998. Her earlier names were Pasiphae and Pasiphae Palace. She is owned and operated by SNCM France and is still in service (May 2021). The image shows her berthed near to the Container Terminal at Southampton's Western Docks.
