This and the other images of this extremely impressive aircraft carrier that I took at the time are poor because the weather condition were atrocious with very low clouds, sea mist, heavy rain and spray from the bow of the vessel I was on, the George H W Bush is the tenth and final Nimitz class super carrier built by the USA. Commissioned in 2006 at a cost of $6.2 billion her displacement is 102000 tons. She is nuclear powered, 1092 feet long with a beam of 252 feet. She carries 90 fixed wing aircraft as well as a number of helicopters. She is seen here anchored at Stokes bay, Portsmouth as she is too large to enter Portsmouth Harbour.
