The use of a telephoto lens tends to flatten an image of a ship when it is captured head on to the Bow. The great delight for me in this shot was the presence of the press helicopter with the photographers shooting out of the open door on the helicopter's left hand side. At this point in her first arrival in the Port of Southampton, Queen Elizabeth had turned 180 degrees at the Upper Turning Ground and was heading down the River Test towards her berth.
