This image, which is part of a series that I captured on the 6th of October 2023, shows the Southampton Harbour Master Escort Vessel Spitfire rendering assistance to a day boat named May Marie. Spitfire was someway ahead of the Vehicle Transporter Orion Highway that she was escorting from the Solent to Southampton Water, when it encountered May Marie who had suffered engine failure in the middle of the shipping channel. Fortunately, Spitfire was able to manoeuvre May Marie out of danger's way before her occupant was able to restart her outboard motor. All of my images that day were captured from the Moat Wall of Calshot Castle.
