The Multi Hull Yacht Edmond De Rothschild (FRA17) was the first competitor to come into view from my position on the SS Shieldhall but was sailing in the North Channel of the Western Solent so was at a fair distance from my camera position. This image of her has been obtained by heavily cropping the captured original. Sadly shortly after this photograph was taken, she crossed a shingle bank and came to a dead halt in the water, rapidly losing the lead that she had gained over her class competitors. She was released from the shingle bank by her crew and resumed the race but I do not know if she suffered any damage from her grounding or recovered her original lead in the race.
