Sir Max Aitken Museum Cowes.
This building is the Sir Max Aitken Museum, facing at one end on to the High Street at Cowes Isle of Wight and at the other end, onto the River Medina. The building started life in the 18th Century as the Ratsey and Lapthorn sail loft. In the 20th Century it became the Island home of Sir Max Aitken. It is now the Sir Max Aitken Museum, housing his collection of paintings and marine artifacts. There is a considerable amount of information on the Internet about the life of Sir Max Aiken and the museum. This image was captured in January 2006 from the deck of a Red Funnel car and passenger ferry sailing in the River Medina heading for its berth at East Cowes.
