Colombo Harbour, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) in 1966.
A view of Colombo Harbour, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) showing cargo ships unloading along side the long jetty. Loading usually took place from barges tied up alongside, using the ship's derricks and winches when the ship was anchored in the harbour. A poor image admittedly but one that shows 1960's cargo ships and cargo handling methods that are long gone. Photograph taken from the deck of Thos and Jno Brocklebank's steam ship (SS) Manaar.
