I captured this image of some wooden pilings which collectively help to hold the shingle bank at Calshot Castle from slipping into Southampton Water because I was attracted by the grain and weathering of the timbers. Although I have used the term Groyne in the title I am uncertain as to the correct term to describe such a structure. The image was captured in April 2021 from the moat wall of the Castle using a long zoom lens.
