SSR 53310.
When I captured this image on the 22 of October 2021 of a vessel that I presumed was or had been a lifeboat, I did not recognise the identification number of SSR 53310 that was painted on her superstructure. My initial Internet searches revealed that she was named Arwen Myrtle, was Registered in Guernsey and was classified as a passenger ship. Further searches using that name, failed to reveal any information about any past RNLI or lifeboat connection. Her appearance however is that of a Mersey Class life boat and when I focussed on that information, it became clear that she was built by the RNLI in 1991, had been number 1170 in their fleet and whilst in RNLI service had been called the Margaret Jean. During her RNLI service she had been deployed in the Reserve fleet and had served at the Lytham St Anns and Exmouth lifeboat stations. The image shows Arwen Myrtle/ Margaret Jean motoring in the River Medina on the Isle of Wight.
