Clipper Moon.
In my ships photographic collection are a number of images that reflect my interest in Maritime Communications. However it is a long time since I entered a ship's radio room so the many antennas mounted above the Bridge Deck of the LPG tanker Clipper Moon, would be connected to equipments that were unknown on 1960's cargo ships. Today, Ships antennas tend to be vertical whips and satellite domes for transmission and reception of voice and data communications. The accommodation, Bridge and Monkey Island decks in the image belong to the 35012 Gross Ton, Norwegian Registered LPG tanker Clipper Moon that was built in Japan in 2003. The Monkey Island is the name given to the highest accessible deck above the ship's bridge. The image was captured in June 2013 from the deck of a Red Funnel car and passenger ferry motoring in Southampton Water close to the berths of the Fawley Refinery.
