Gibraltar.
In the 1960's when I was in the Merchant Navy and homeward bound after a long voyage, passing Gibraltar as we sailed West towards the Atlantic Ocean possessed a special significance to everyone 0n-board because it meant that we would be back in the UK within a few days. Over 40 years later this image of the Rock (captured in September 2006 as we sailed West once again) is still awe inspiring to me.
