Shenandoah Highway.
I have only seen and photographed the vehicles carrier Shenandoah Highway on two occasions which were in 2005 and 2007. This image along with others in a small group were captured in September 2005. At the time this image was captured, I was on board a Red Funnel ferry traveling to East Cowes Isle of Wight whilst Shenandoah Highway was in-bound for the Port of Southampton. Both vessels were travelling on Southampton Water not far from the Port’s Dock Head. The 47368 Gross Ton Shenandoah Highway was built in Japan in 1992 and when I saw her was Registered in Panama. According to Internet sources in later life she became the Jasa Bakti and Registered in Malaysia. She was eventually removed from service (presumably scrapped) in 2019 at the grand old age of 27. This image is slightly soft because it was captured with the aid of a consumer grade Canon EOS 350D DSLR camera and Canon 55-200mm consumer grade zoom lens. In 2005 I tended to exclusively use Aperture Priority to control the depth of field, with a set ISO (in this case 200) and the shutter speed taking care of itself if it seemed reasonably fast. Now I tend to operate fully manual with Auto ISO and the shutter speed as high as practical. The Tug in the image helping Shenandoah Highway to manoeuvre is the Adsteam Deben.
