Mircea.
I was very fortunate to be able to photograph the Romanian Naval training ship Mircea when she was berthed in Southampton's Ocean Dock in early July 2019. Owned and operated by the Romanian Navy as a sail training vessel, she was built in Germany in 1938 for the Romanian Navy and is described on the Internet as a Three Masted Barque. Her complement of 200 is made up of 80 officers and 120 trainee sailors. I initially had tremendous difficulty in identifying her name as unusually there is no identifying name on her bow or stern. My breakthrough came by heavily cropping the image and identifying the name Constanza on one of her lifeboats. That clue was misleading to some extent because it turned out to be the name of her Home Port. Her actual name is embossed on the rectangular plate on her white painted hull near to her stern.
