Red Kestrel.
An absolute first for me seeing the newly introduced into service Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) ferry Red Kestrel departing the Town Quay Southampton for the ferry terminal at East Cowes Isle of Wight on Friday 10th May 2019. Built in the UK at the Cammel Laird shipyard in Birkenhead at a cost of £10M she is capable of transporting 12 HGV's and 12 drivers on the same route as the much larger Raptor class car ferries. A great deal of information is available on the Internet about her design, technical performance and the way in which she has been integrated into the current Red Funnel ferry service.
