P and O Nedlloyd Kobe.
This image which was captured in November 2005 from the deck of Southampton's Town Quay could not be replicated today (May 2023) for 2 reasons, Firstly because the Containership P and O Nedlloyd Kobe has now been renamed Maersk Karachi and secondly because the old derelict deck of the Royal Pier that appears across most of the lower part of the image has disappeared. The P and O Nedlloyd Kobe was built in Japan in 1998, has a Gross Tonnage of 80942 Tons, but unfortunately I have no record of where she was Registered when this image was captured. The Internet will yield a great deal of information about the formation of the P and O Nedlloyd shipping company from the merger of the Dutch company Royal Nedlloyd Lines and the British shipping company P and O Containers. That merged company was taken over by Maersk Line in 2005. If you look carefully the P and O Nedlloyd name has been painted over on the vessel's Port side which might have signalled an eventual total change in her livery.
