Mr Bombastic.
I captured this image of the Rigid Inflatable Boat Mr Bombastic in August 2009 when it was powering its way across the Solent Southampton. I have written previously on this web site that I often wonder about the origins and reasons for the names that owners give to their pleasure craft. Again, in the case of Mr Bombastic, I can offer no explanation. My initial thought was that there was a reggae song of that name that occupied a high position in the UK music charts. That thought turned out to be wrong because what I was half remembering was a 1995 song entitled Mr Boombastic by the Jamaican musical artist Shaggy. The image was captured from the deck of the preserved Steam Ship SS Shieldhall.
