Longbow II.
When I looked closely at the image of the wooden yacht Longbow II featured here, my first thoughts were that she would have an interesting history. My instincts were correct because I believe she is the Longbow II that was built in Ireland in 1968 at the Cross Haven Boat yard as a one-off Offshore Racing Yacht. Other Internet information that I found indicates that around 2014 she was restored and used as a live-aboard. Unfortunately there is no information after 2015 that I could find that reveals whether there were further changes made to her build or whether her ownership changed. I captured this image of Longbow II in June 2023 from the deck of the preserved steam ship SS Shieldhall, when both vessels were travelling in the Solent Southampton just off the Northern Coast of the Isle of Wight.
